International Association for the Humanities (IAH)
announces a competition for short-term grants in the humanities
in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine in 2011–2012 academic year

Grants will be awarded on the basis of peer-review of written proposals by an independent commission of experts. Grants will identify scholarly work that meets the international standards. The long-term objective of this program is to support the continued development of scholarship in different fields of humanities in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine.

Eligibility guidelines

Applicants:

must hold the kandidatskaia degree, or show evidence of equivalent professional experience;
must be citizens of, and residents of, Belarus, Russia, or Ukraine;
must use the grant only for the purposes of research indicated in the application.

Fields of study:

All disciplines and topics within the humanities are welcome, including history, literature, linguistics, philosophy, cultural studies, studies of religion, studies of visual and performing arts, gender studies etc. Applications in social sciences, such as political science, sociology, economics, international relations, psychology are not eligible unless they focus on the study of history of respected disciplines and don’t use quantitative methods.

Types of projects:

archival or field research intended for presentation in a book-length monograph, collections of source materials,
work on archival or museum collections making them more useful for specific research projects;
collaborative projects are encouraged (one of the project participants should apply on behalf of the team, under conditions specified on the application form).

Application form 2011–2012

The application deadline is November 18, 2011. Grant amount depends on the size of the annual financial support. Information about the results of the grant competition will be sent to its participants in May 2012.
